Linda Berger was born in 1980 in Aalen, Germany, and now lives and works in Vienna, Austria. She first studied fashion at the University of Pforzheim (Germany) School of Design before she decided to study fine arts and printmaking at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Austria). She graduated in 2014.
Linda Berger uses the technique of ink drawing to create her – unusually large – artworks, all consisting of thousands of individual pen strokes. The colorful or black-and-white originals clearly reveal the genesis of her drawings, from the creation of ideas and concepts to the drawing process itself.
In Berger’s large-format line drawings, time seems to be stored. With basic pen strokes, she creates worlds of abundance densities, captures with turbulences, transformations, traces and scars, the passing of time, time in motion. Her `landscapes` become soul scapes, causing the mood of the beholders, depending on the time of day, the season and the incidence of light. In an attempt to capture time, Linda Berger’s drawings reveal tranquility in the midst of acceleration.
