Marit Wolters is a German visual artist based in Vienna. Her works examine the aesthetic potential of architectural materials, processes and structures and their interaction with social and ecological systems. The cycles of work feed thematically from Wolters' immediate haptic environment. She picks up structures and materials of the architectural or landscape environment in order to translate their characteristics into her own pictorial language. The resulting works have a strong conceptual connection to their surrounding space. Experimentation is a main catalyst in her work process. In this way, she creates works that are rich in layers, dealing with themes of architecture and urban planning, ecology and local landscape formation processes. Her works are shown in exhibitions internationally and She was honored with several awards including the State Grant of Austria 2023, Erste Bank Extra- Value Art Award, 2018 and the Grant for Emerging Artist, 2017.
