Ulrike Königshofer is working as a visual artist in Vienna. She investigates our viewing habits and explores different facets of human perception in a rather experimental approach, using photography, new media and installation. Born in styria / Austria in 1981, she graduated at the Ortwein School for Arts and Crafts in Graz and the University for Applied Arts in Vienna. She spent numerous artist residencies abroad, including New York or London. At the Cité des Arts in Paris in 2012 her artistic focus shifted towards photography. In 2022/2023 she was guest lecturer at the Photography Department of the University for Applied Arts Vienna. The Verlag für moderne Kunst published her most comprehensive monography “On Perception” in 2017.
Ulrike Königshofer held solo shows at Camera Austria in Graz (“The Faulty Image”), at the Austrian Cultural Forum New York (“sense and record”), and the Halle für Kunst und Medien in Graz (“Dinge, die andere Dinge sind”), at das weisse haus in Vienna (“The Backside of Seeing”) and built the installation “The See Through” at the Kunsthaus Graz, amongst others. Her work was awarded several times - with the Erste Bank More Value artprize, the Artprize of the Diozöse Graz-Seckau or most recent with the Outstanding Artist Award for Artistic Photography 2024.
